Hello, It’s Me Again…
If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you may have noticed that it has been a little quiet.
Life has a way of doing that.
Children grow up. Grandchildren arrive. Lives evolve. Gardens expand. Lake houses need attention. New hobbies appear. Many old hobbies return. And before you know it, months—or even years—have passed more quickly than you ever intended.
Lately I’ve found myself in an interesting season of life. Some long-standing commitments have come to a natural close, and for the first time in quite a while I find myself with a little more room to think, create, and revisit things I love.
One of those things is writing.
I’ve been spending more time reflecting on what I enjoy, what I’ve learned, and what is worth sharing. In the process, I found myself revisiting this little corner of the internet and remembering why I started this blog in the first place.
I’ve always loved collecting ideas.
Not just recipes, although there have been plenty of those.
Not only gardening tips, decorating projects, entertaining ideas, books, cocktails, flower arrangements, travel memories, and creative solutions.
What I’ve really been collecting are stories.
Stories about family.
Stories about gatherings.
Stories about creating a life that feels welcoming, beautiful, and meaningful.
Over the past few months I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, organizing, writing, and dreaming. I’ve been looking back over decades of notes, recipes, traditions, photos, and experiences and asking myself what lessons are worth preserving and sharing.
The answer, it turns out, is probably a lot more than I realized.
So I’m making a small commitment to myself.
I’m going to start writing here again.
Not because I have everything figured out.
But because I’ve missed it.
I’ll be sharing more about life at the lake, gardening, flowers, entertaining, family traditions, favorite recipes, books, travel, and a few new projects that have me particularly excited these days.
Some posts will be practical.
Some will be reflective.
Some may even involve a turtle named Jojo, my fig plant Adam and my Meyer Lemon tree John, or even just something I discovered while wandering through my gardens.
That’s usually how these things work for me.
For now, I’m simply happy to be back.
Thank you for stopping by.
I hope you’ll visit more and stay awhile.
And, as always, I’d love your feedback.
— Kathleen
